About

Dr. Lina Valery (Dr. V) is a Clinical Sexologist, researcher, and author whose work focuses on the neurobiology of intimacy repair following relational betrayal. She holds a Ph.D. in Clinical Sexology and dual Master’s degrees in Mental Health Counseling and Education Media Design & Technology, positioning her at the intersection of clinical science, relational neuroscience, and instructional design.
Dr. Valery’s work centers on what she describes as The Nature-Somatic Bridge, an integrative framework that combines nature-based regulation strategies with trauma-informed therapeutic approaches, including EMDR International Association training principles and interventions derived from The Gottman Institute research on relational stability and repair. This framework examines how environmental context can support nervous system regulation and facilitate the restoration of attachment security and sexual intimacy following betrayal trauma.
She is also the developer of the Healing Betrayal, Restoring Sexual Intimacy curriculum, a structured twelve-week therapeutic model designed to translate emerging neurobiological research into practical interventions for clinicians and couples navigating attachment injury. Her work emphasizes translating complex neuroscience into accessible therapeutic practices that can be implemented in both clinical and educational settings.
Dr. V’s professional trajectory reflects a sustained interest in how complex systems influence human behavior and relational functioning. With an academic foundation in Education Media Design & Technology (M.S.), she explored how digital environments shape cognitive processing, information flow, and human interaction in her early work. This systems-oriented perspective later informed her transition into clinical work, where she began examining how digital environments increasingly intersect with relational dynamics and attachment processes.
Through her research in Clinical Sexology, Dr. Valery has explored how modern forms of relational betrayal often occur within technologically mediated environments, creating what she conceptualizes as a digital-relational fracture—a disruption of attachment security facilitated by digital accessibility and anonymity. Her work investigates how these dynamics affect the neurobiology of trust, sexual intimacy, and relational repair.
Recognized with a Course Director Award for excellence in instructional design, Dr. Valery approaches scholarly writing and teaching as structured learning experiences. Her work emphasizes the importance of translating complex psychological and neurobiological research into clear, clinically actionable knowledge that strengthens both practitioner competence and client outcomes.
Currently, Dr. Valery focuses on writing, teaching, and the development of research and clinical frameworks addressing intimacy repair in the digital era. Her work aims to advance interdisciplinary dialogue across clinical sexology, relational neuroscience, and environmental psychology, contributing to a more integrative understanding of how couples recover trust and restore intimacy following relational trauma.
