Healing Betrayal & Restoring Intimacy: A 12-Week Neuro-Somatic Intervention
The Overview: Grounded on Dr. V’s doctoral research and decades of instructional design expertise, this 12-week curriculum addresses the “Digital-Relational Fracture” caused by emotional, sexual, and internet-facilitated betrayals. The program serves as a clinical bridge, integrating Interpersonal Neurobiology (IPNB) with Nature-Based Regulation to stabilize the attachment system and restore erotic integrity.
The Scholarly Objective: This intervention is designed to decrease the physiological “noise” of trauma—specifically, rumination, dissociation, and hypervigilance—to allow for the cognitive recoding of the “Assumptive World.” By moving beyond the office chair and into nature-informed somatic prompts, participants bypass the cognitive “lock” of betrayal, fostering secure attachment and relationship satisfaction.
The Three Phases of Restoration
Phase I: Stabilization (Weeks 1–4)
- Focus: Autonomic Regulation & Affect Management.
- The Root: Utilizing nature-based regulation to expand the Window of Tolerance. This phase focuses on reducing sympathetic flooding and challenging the negative core schemas that emerge immediately following discovery.
Phase II: Understanding (Weeks 5–8)
- Focus: Attachment Schemas & Narrative Reconstruction.
- The Root: A deep dive into the systemic factors of betrayal. This phase uses cognitive prompts and mindfulness to practice radical accountability and establish new protocols for transparency and “self-love” as prerequisites for secure connection.
Phase III: Rebuilding (Weeks 9–12)
- Focus: Intimacy Restoration & Erotic Integrity.
- The Root: The synthesis of empathy, forgiveness, and sexual desire. This phase concludes with the co-creation of a “Relationship Blueprint,” culminating in either a virtual integration or an intensive, in-person nature retreat.
Clinical & Institutional Integration
This curriculum is designed to function as a Modular Adjunctive Support for mental health professionals.
- For Clinicians: A structured tool to manage the “between-session” dysregulation of couples in betrayal recovery.
- For Academic Research: A replicable 12-week framework currently being utilized to study the efficacy of nature-informed interventions on relational repair.
